ICA Clarinet Enthusiasts Committee Commission Consortium with Kristen Denny-Chambers
The ICA and the ICA Clarinet Enthusiasts Committee are excited to commission a new work for solo clarinet (any clarinet in the clarinet family) by Kristen Denny-Chambers of Clarinet Playground! (https://clarinetplayground.com/)
There are two tiers for this consortium:
$100 – Regular Consortium Members
$60 – College Students and Retired Clarinetists and Clarinet Enthusiasts
All consortium members will receive a digital score and can purchase a printed score at a discount from Clarinet Playground.
Commission by ICA Clarinet Enthusiasts Committee with Consortium
- Work for solo clarinet (any clarinet in the clarinet family)
- Three movements (fast – slow – fast)
- 8 minutes total
- Enthusiast level with the slow movement being the easiest
- Each movement should be able to stand alone (no transitions/attacca)
- Timeline: event is in April of 2024 on a Saturday from 12:00 to 3:00 ET – date will be selected later
- Finalize music by around Christmas
- Masterclass led by composer at the Enthusiast Event
- Character/Style: Irish inspiration to vibe with ClarinetFest® 2024 in Dublin, Ireland
Summary of Commission/Consortium Schedule
- September 2023 – Commission agreement signed and deposit paid
- October 1, 2023 to December 1, 2023 – Recruitment period for consortium and fees paid
- January 1, 2024 – Preliminary draft of the work shared with commissioner
- January 8, 2024 – Deadline for composer to give notice of delivery delays
- January 15, 2024 (or two weeks after preliminary draft delivery) – Deadline for commissioner to provide feedback of preliminary draft
- January 31, 2024 – Deadline for delivery of final draft
- ClarinetFest® 2024 Performance: Deadline for initial premiere by the commissioner
- April of 2024 until December 31, 2024 – Exclusivity window for commissioner and consortium members
- January 2025 – Work released for public purchase
