As we approach the 50th ClarinetFest convention, we thought it would be interesting to share some fun facts about the annual ClarinetFest conference:
- It has been held in 10 different countries (USA, Canada, France, England, Belgium, Sweden, Japan, Portugal, Italy, Spain)
- The most popular ClarinetFest location is Denver, Colorado, which has welcomed ClarinetFest attendees for 8 different years.
- There are now 5 different competitions held each year at ClarinetFest – High School, Young Artist, Orchestral Audition, Research, and Composition. (Learn more about each of these competitions here and discover past winners here.)
- We love Weber! The most popular composer on the required repertoire of the Young Artist Competition is Weber, and the most popular piece is Weber’s Concertino, which has been used 7 times.
- The most popular composer for the High School Competition is Béla Kovács, whose various Homages have been used 6 times.
- ClarinetFest hosts are serving on a volunteer basis, which is absolutely incredible when you consider the countless hours spent planning and preparing each memorable conference! (Are you interested in hosting a future ClarinetFest? You can learn more about hosting a future event here.)
We hope you will join us at a future ClarinetFest event to help us continue making clarinet history around the world!
