Responsibilities:
We seek a highly qualified musician/educator, open rank, to serve as primary instructor of clarinet at a leading institution. Responsibilities include teaching clarinet to majors, coaching chamber music, coordinating efforts among studio faculty members, and recruiting students to ensure the viability of both the clarinet studio and school of music ensembles. The successful candidate will work closely with the chair of the performance area, instrumental coordinators, and ensemble conductors to facilitate good communication with current and prospective students. Additional areas of teaching and service may be determined depending upon school needs, candidate’s interests, qualifications, and expertise. Experience and commitment to working with students from diverse musical, social, and cultural backgrounds are encouraged.
The successful candidate will be expected to actively recruit to meet the needs of school of music ensembles; participate in school, university, and discipline-related service, and maintain active creative/professional activities and scholarship outside of DePaul. Additional areas may be determined depending on School of Music needs, candidate strengths and interests, and opportunities for growth for the candidate and the field.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's, terminal degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated record of or potential for excellence in teaching.
- Demonstrated record of or potential for productive creative work.
