ClarinetFest® 2017, Day 2: Orchestral Audition Competition
The Orchestral Audition Competition Finals were held at 2:00PM on Thursday, July 27. Preliminary
Round Judges included Gregory Raden, Ralph Skiano and Erin Svoboda. Judges for the final round were
Stanley Drucker, Janice Minor and Peter Wright. The 12 finalists were chosen from many recorded
auditions submitted by students around the world. Those who performed today were Margaret
Albrecht, Catherin Colin, Talia Dugan, Barret Ham, Julia Janda, Charlotte Kies, Erin Miesner, Michael
Moy, Bryce Newcomer and Tzu-Ting Wang. Excerpts required for the final round were selected from the
Mozart Clarinet Concerto, Shostakovich Symphony No. 9, Rimsky-Korsakov Scheherazade, Brahms
Symphony No. 3, Mendelssohn Symphony No. 3, and Gershwin Rhapsody in Blue. The winner and the
runner-up will be announced on Saturday evening at the ICA Award Ceremony.
