ICA Internships

The ICA has a yearly internship program that offers a fantastic opportunity for current or recently graduated students to gain valuable experience in nonprofit arts administration. The ICA offers a fun, supportive environment for interns to build skills and explore career opportunities in the music world and beyond.

The ICA Internship Program currently offers three internships per year in two programs: Office Internships and ICA Event Internships. All internships are primarily remote, but Event Internships require attendance at specific ICA events like ClarinetFest®, Low Clarinet Festival, and others. Application announcements will be published on this page.

The ICA is seeking remote interns for the 2025 calendar year to take part in the day-to-day, behind-the-scenes activities that keep our organization running. Our team works remotely, so you can intern for us from wherever you are! (Internet access and Zoom capabilities are required.) Interns will work for a minimum of four hours per week and each internship period is four months; scheduling is flexible.

The ICA is seeking interns for the following periods:

  • Spring/Summer 2025 (ClarinetFest® 2025 Focused)
  • Fall 2025 (Social Media and Fundraising Focused)
  • Winter 2025-2026 (Fundraising and ClarinetFest® 2026 Focus)

The ICA offers class credit, a stipend of $500, career development activities such as informational interviews with music and nonprofit professionals, and free registration and hotel for an ICA event that occurs during the individual’s internship period (Intern is responsible for airfare and other expenses related to attending corresponding event).

Interns will gain hands-on experience in a variety of key areas, which may include member services, convention planning, marketing, archival research, general administration, and publishing. We encourage applications from candidates of diverse backgrounds.
