Cecilia Kang

Cecilia Kang is an internationally acclaimed clarinetist, educator, scholar, and curator, celebrated for her “ethereal colors” and “effortless” playing (The Clarinet Journal). She has performed worldwide as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player, collaborating with members of the Berlin Philharmonic and St. Lawrence String Quartet. Her artistry has earned prestigious honors from the Canadian Music Competition, New Music USA, the Canada Council for the Arts, and the Louisiana Board of Regents. A committed advocate for clarinet performance and pedagogy, Kang has presented over 100 masterclasses at leading institutions including the Milan Conservatory (Italy), Penderecki Academy of Music (Poland), Central Conservatory (Beijing), Yonsei University (South Korea), and Eastman School of Music (USA). She regularly appears at ClarinetFest® and the Midwest Clinic and serves as a juror for the ICA, Vandoren, and National Endowment for the Arts. Her award-winning research on inclusive pedagogy won first prize at the 2023 ICA Research Competition. Kang has commissioned over a dozen new works and curated community initiatives like the Silver Linings Initiative and Han and Heung Festival. She is Associate Professor of Clarinet at Indiana University and a Vandoren and Buffet Crampon Artist.
