In response to the recent disasters of Hurricane Harvey and Irma and the earthquakes
in Mexico, a clarinet concert benefiting Direct Relief, which improves the lives of people
affected by poverty and emergencies, will be presented on Saturday, September 23rd, at
6:00PM, at Reformation Lutheran Church, 15750 Magnolia Street, Westminster, CA.
Clarinetists Alice Gallagher, Alana Miles and Margaret Worsley, all former students of
Håkan Rosengren have banded together, and will be joined by the Cal State Fullerton Clarinet
Consort to play a concert that will not just entertain for a moment but bring change for people
who are suffering: music by Vaughn Williams, Bernstein, Scott Joplin, Enest Bloch and others
will be performed.
“It is empowering to think that we can use music to help people,” said Alice Gallagher, a
Juilliard graduate and adjunct professor at University of San Diego. “Watching the news,
sometimes I feel so helpless, but coming together to play this concert with my talented friends,
we are doing something tangible to help people that are far away through our everyday work.”
An open donation will be taken at the concert. For additional information, call (949)
355-1649, or email [email protected].

I am happy to report that we raised over $1,000 for Direct Relief at this concert. It was a wonderful experience, and I would like to thank all of my clarinetist colleagues for their support.
Thanks for letting us know about this wonderful fundraiser! We are happy it was a success!
