CLARINETFEST® 2025:
Transcending Traditions

The Artistic Leadership Team is thrilled to announce details about ClarinetFest® 2025, taking place in beautiful downtown Fort Worth, Texas, July 9–13. This five-day event promises to be an extraordinary celebration of the clarinet, featuring world-class performances, inspiring educational opportunities, and a bustling exhibit hall. In addition, the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex calls for an extended visit into what is a vibrant blend of modern city life and old Western tradition right in the heart of America: the Lone Star State of Texas.
THEME AND ARTISTIC VISION

Fort Worth Convention Center and Omni Hotel
The theme for ClarinetFest® 2025 is “Transcending Traditions”: While celebrating the storied legacy of the clarinet, the membership has been encouraged to also explore beyond the traditional mainstream to showcase clinics and performances that reflect a wider view of the instrument’s journey within our connected world and allow our community to discover new avenues of expression. We are thrilled with the membership’s artistry and vision that have been represented in over 300 proposals for this year’s conference. The ClarinetFest® 2025 Artistic Leadership Team consists of Karen Bronson, Shawn Copeland, Season Cowley, Cheyenne Cruz, Corey Mackey, Andrea Vos-Rochefort, Gary Whitman, Jody Webb, and Artistic Director Mary Alice Druhan.
EVENING HEADLINING PERFORMANCES
The Opening Evening Concert will be held on Wednesday, July 9 at 8 p.m. with the Orchard Ensemble string quartet alongside artists Gloria Umberto, Calvin Falwell, Greg Raden, Lara Díaz, and Jon Manasse, and featuring the music of Samuel Coleridge Taylor, David Bennett Thomas, York Bowen, and W.A. Mozart. The Welcome Reception will be held at the conclusion of this year’s Opening Evening Concert.
On Thursday evening at 8 p.m., the Dallas Asian Winds, under the direction of conductor Jung Moo Lee, will be performing with the Fabulous Four Clarinet Quartet, Henri Bok, David Cook, Sunshine Simmons, and Corrado Giuffredi for an exciting evening of wind band works by Salvador Brotons, Paul Seitz, Garrett Gillingham, Ivette Herryman Rodriguez, Artie Shaw, and more. This concert will be followed by a late night jazz program featuring John Wasson and the Strata Big Band with artists Mike McGinnis and Ken Peplowski.
The ClarinetFest® 2025 Orchestra will be performing on Friday, July 11 at 8 p.m. with soloists Ecesu Sertesen, Charles Neidich & Ayako Oshima, Thomas Piercy, Jonathan Russell, and Wesley Ferreira with conductor David Itkin (orchestra management by Debbie Brooks, DFW Musicians Services, LLC). Their world-inspired program features the music of İstemihan Taviloğl, Michael Webster, Bin Li, Jonathan Russell, and Daniel Freiberg. This program includes a special performance of Michael Webster’s piece Echoes and Reflections in recognition of his 2024 appointment as an Honorary Member.
The Finale Evening Concert will take place on Saturday, July 12 at 8 p.m. featuring solo and chamber performances by Julianne Kirk Doyle,Sarah Manasreh-Decker, Haven Trio, Rob Patterson, and Anthony McGill. The music for this program includes works by Caroline von Schleicher-Krähmer, Clara Schumann, Gwyneth Walker, Ivette Herryman Rodriguez, Clarice Assad, Jessica Meyer, and more.
SPECIAL DAYTIME HEADLINERS
ClarinetFest® 2025 will be featuring several artists as part of the Daytime Headlining Programs, including Transient Canvas, Christine Hoerning,Sputter Box, Amy Advocat, Cecilia Kang, the U.S. Army Clarinet Ensemble, Matthew Banks, Jorge Variego Trio, and Big Fat Meanies. The composers featured in these programs include, but are not limited to, Jennifer Jolley, Bethany Younge, Brendan Sweeney, David Ibbett, Peter Van Zandt Lane, Daijana Wallance, Kakia Gkoudina, Alexey Gorokholinsky, and Kalaisan Kalaichelvan.
HONORED ARTISTS AND MEMORIALS
A special Fred Ormand Tribute program is being organized by Sharon Knox Deuby, Bob Walzel, and John Weigand. Rachel Yoder is organizing and performing in a celebration of the works of William O. “Bill” Smith with joining artists Deborah Bish, Jesse Canterbury, Eric Mandat, Mike McGinnis, Beverly Setzer, Robert Spring, and Jenny Ziefel. The 2024 Honorary Members being celebrated in Fort Worth include Annette Luyben, Anthony McGill, Julie DeRoche, Bob Walzel, and Tao Chunxiao.
EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVES
As part of the Clarinet Learning Community at ClarinetFest®, members will be able to participate in a number of educational activities throughout the conference. These include a variety of competitions and master classes, a Showcase Stage to feature young student clarinet choirs, warmup sessions, health and wellness events, presentations, lectures, and workshops, plus a variety of conference clarinet choirs for attendees to join, including the Middle School, High School, Collegiate, LGBTQIA+, Professors, New Horizons, and Festival choirs. There are also scheduled Meet-and-Greet events with many of our amazing headlining artists.
EXHIBIT HALL
Join us in what we expect to be the largest conference exhibit hall in the ICA’s history! One of the busiest spaces at any ClarinetFest®, this year’s exhibit hall promises to offer all of the latest equipment and gadgets as well as the trusted products that we have come to love. Instrument trials and purchases are a highlight of the conference experience. From sheet music to gig bags and from reeds to mouthpieces and ligatures, ClarinetFest® will have it all for you to explore.
TRAVEL INFORMATION
ClarinetFest® 2025 will take place in downtown Fort Worth, Texas, at the Omni Hotel and at the adjacent Fort Worth Convention Center, both just 25 miles from the DFW International Airport. The event will be held along the vintage-style transit, “Molly the Trolley,” which provides free, quick, and convenient travel throughout the downtown area with connections to Fort Worth Central Station and access to the commuter rail via Trinity Railway Express, TEXRail (access to DFW Airport, Terminal B), Amtrak, Trinity Metro bus services, bike rentals, and rental cars.
