The ClarinetFest® 2022 Artistic Leadership Team is accepting applications for students wishing to participate in this summer’s ClarinetFest® 2022 conference masterclasses.
This year’s amazing master clinicians include:
Wednesday, June 29
Evan Ziporyn – Clarinetist/composer, with 40-year practice of exploring and expanding new music for clarinet
Thursday, June 30
Michael Lowenstern – Acclaimed entrepreneur, musician, composer, educator, specializing in bass clarinet, and well known for his YouTube channel “Earspasm”
Friday, July 1
Deborah Chodacki – Former clarinet faculty at the University of Michigan School of Music, Interlochen Center for the Arts, Louisiana State University School of Music, and East Carolina University (pedagogy/high school focused masterclass)
Caroline Hartig – Acclaimed clarinet soloist and recording artist, professor of clarinet at The Ohio State University (pedagogy/high school focused masterclass)
Philippe Cuper – Principal clarinet of the Paris National Opera Orchestra, professor of Versailles National Conservatory
Saturday, July 2
Steve Williamson – Principal clarinet of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, appointed in 2011 by Maestro Riccardo Muti
YaoGuang Zhai – Principal clarinet of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra appointed by Maestra Marin Alsop in 2016
Felix Peikli – Artistic director of the Norwegian Jazz Orchestra, music curator at Club Gustav at Hotel Amerikalinjen, and founder and CEO of Jazz Music Norway (jazz focused masterclass)
Application Instructions:
To be eligible you must meet the following requirements:
- Applicants should not be currently employed full-time in a performance position
- Applicants should not be under any artist management
- Members competing in any of this summer’s High School, Young Artist, or Orchestral Competitions are not eligible to apply for consideration in this summer’s masterclasses
- Applicants must be members in good standing with the ICA
- Applicants must provide a letter of reference in application
