CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS:
THE CLARINET [ONLINE]
by Jeremy Ruth, The Clarinet [Online] Editor
Hello, fellow clarinetists! I am thrilled to be the newly appointed editor of The Clarinet [Online] (TCO) alongside new associate editor Cynthia Goosby, and I’d like to use this opportunity to invite you to check out TCO if you are not already a regular reader. If you are already familiar with TCO, you can expect the editing team to continue posting articles selected from The Clarinet that we believe will be of particular interest to readers, with special preference given to articles that have accompanying embedded audio, video, or multiple language versions that may enhance the article.
Moving forward, however, we would like to publish more original content on TCO, which is why we are putting out a call for article submissions or proposals for online publication on TCO. If you have an idea for an article that you think is of interest to the clarinet community, we want to hear from you! As an online publication, TCO has the flexibility to post both long form and shorter works with embedded content, so publishing on TCO might be particularly appealing if your idea doesn’t quite fit the length guidelines for The Clarinet or would otherwise be better suited to an online format. We are particularly interested in articles about:
- Repertoire: Writing that highlights works appropriate for younger or less experienced clarinetists, or lesser-known works in the clarinet repertoire. Works by composers from historically underrepresented groups are of particular interest.
- Ensemble or Studio: Profiles of different student, community, and professional ensembles from around the world, including any particularly noteworthy aspects of the ensembles.
- Technology: Articles about new technology that could be useful for clarinetists.
- ICA and ICA Membership: Items that tell us who you are, what role the clarinet plays in your life, and why you joined the ICA.
If you have an idea relating to one of these topics, or a different concept of your choice, we want to hear about it! We’d like to publish articles on a wide range of topics from diverse voices and perspectives, so send your article submissions, proposals, or ideas to [email protected], and happy practicing!
