Memory of Hibaku – Roads to Redemption
Shinji Inagi (b.1978)
Csaba Jevtic-Somlai, clarinet
Program Notes: 76 years since the two bombs, Fat Man and Little Boy, were dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima. “Memory of Hibaku – Roads to Redemption” is, therefore, a timely and artistic expression toward the memory of those who perished and endured. The composition is written for solo clarinet, piano, and digital media. The electronic portion contrasts the violent nature of humanity with peaceful life. The clarinet portion mainly expresses the inner thoughts and feelings of the victims. This piece concludes with the peaceful reconciliation of the survivors and conveys hope for global peace.
