“Masterclass: composer Davide Ianni and clarinetist Jean-Francois Charles”

“Dedalo Nero” for contralto clarinet was composed by Davide Ianni in 2021-2022, and premiered by Jean-Francois Charles in 2022. During this masterclass, Davide Ianni will present his composition and discuss the collaborative process with the performer. During the presentation, they will share excerpts from the “Dedalo Nero” recording. They will present a video made by Jean-François Charles with contralto clarinet multiphonics to help composer Davide Ianni during the creative process. There will be a 5-minute Q&A with the performer and composer.
