Conference Clarinet Choirs

ClarinetFest® 2010

All individuals attending ClarinetFest® can perform with one of the Conference Clarinet Choirs.  University and high school students should sign up to play with the College Clarinet Choir.  All others should sign up to play with the Festival Clarinet Choir.  When registering to attend ClarinetFest® 2010, please indicate in the appropriate place on your conference registration form that you intend to play with one of the clarinet choirs.

Performing with a conference clarinet choir has become a very popular and rewarding experience for those attending ClarinetFest®.  Directors this year (Mitchell Estrin – Festival Choir and Robert Walzel – College Choir) have extensive experience directing clarinet choirs. They have fun and exciting programs planned for you!

Instrumentation of a clarinet choir can be tricky because of the large number of players who want to play B-flat soprano clarinet and the few individuals who are available to play alto, bass, and contra clarinets. To assist in balancing the ensembles, please consider playing one of the harmony clarinets if at all possible. If you play an instrument other than B-flat clarinet but do not have an instrument, obtain one before arriving at the conference if at all possible. There will be a limited number of harmony clarinets available for use by Conference Clarinet Choir participants. Mouthpieces and reeds will also be your responsibility. In any case, bring your B-flat clarinet if you cannot bring a harmony clarinet. Also, if you bring your E-flat clarinet please bring your B-flat clarinet as well.

Everyone attending ClarinetFest® 2010 is urged to sign up and play!
